Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st of October, 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. This was when she gained her first the attention of her peers. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox first released songs online in the year 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 Five Finger Discount. In 2014, she dropped more music via the Internet including Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes and from Sweat It Out, on the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's references. In the following year, her music was played throughout Dreamville. She officially was signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was her contribution to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video was also released on September 5th. In November, she dropped two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November, 13 she dropped two more singles entitled No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed alongside Cole on The Creed II sound track on November 16. The 20th of February, 2019 a music video was made available for the track. It has already received nearly three million hits on YouTube within its debut week. As a support act she performed together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
